Installation, Maintenance & Fault Tracing - Electronic Insect Electrocutors

ONLY QUALIFIED PERSONS MAY OPEN THE LID OF THE INSECT KILLER! THIS UNIT MUST BE EARTHED AT ALL TIMES!

DANGER! High voltage grid!

Risk of electrical shock

INSTALLATION

This unit is completely safe, but as with all electrical appliances, certain installation rules should be followed:

  1. Connect to an appropriate 220 ~ 240Vac wall plug and switch on. The fluorescent tube and warning pilot light will burn. The high voltage grid will also be activated.

  2. Always disconnect the unit from power before handling. Short Circuit the grids to discharge the capacitors. The same method can be followed to test the high voltage transformer.

CHANGE TUBES & STARTERS

Indoor Models

  1. Disconnect the unit from the input power and discharge the capacitors by inserting an insolated screwdriver between the grids.

  2. Remove the collection tray by unscrewing the 2 screws at the bottom. Remove the protection grid by inserting a screwdriver between the protection grid and the side. Lift the pins out of the holes of the isolators.

  3. Turn the tube a quarter turn in any direction and slide out. Replace the tubes and or starters by pushing the pins of the tube into the lampholders and turn until they click into position.

  4. Replace the protection grid by first sliding two pins into the isolators on one side and then into the isolators on the other side.

  5. Replace the debris tray

Outdoor Models

  1. Disconnect the unit from the input power and discharge the capacitors by inserting an insolated screwdriver between the grids.

  2. Turn the tube a quarter turn in any direction and slide out. Replace the tubes and or starters by pushing the pins of the tube into the lampholders and turn until they click into position.

CLEANING THE UNITS

Clean your unit at least once a month in summer months

Indoor Models

Disconnect the unit from the input power and discharge the capacitors by inserting an insolated screwdriver between the grids.

Collecting Tray

  1. To clean the collecting tray, remove the two screws from the side and clean it with soap and water

  2. Replace the collection tray and screw back in place.

Grids:

  1. Remove the collection tray by unscrewing the 2 screws at the bottom. Remove the protection grid by inserting a screwdriver between the protection grid and the side. Lift the pins out of the holes of the isolators.

  2. Brush the grids with a hard bristle broom to remove the debris

  3. Replace the protection grid by first sliding two pins into the isolators on one side and then into the isolators on the other side.

  4. Replace the debris tray

Outdoor Models

Disconnect the unit from the input power and discharge the capacitors by inserting an insolated screwdriver between the grids.

Grids:

  1. Brush the grids with a hard bristle broom to remove the debris.

FAULT TRACING

ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE UNIT FROM THE MAINS BEFORE HANDLING

If the pilot light at the side of the unit does not glow

  1. The input earth wire is not connected in the lead.

  2. The live (brown) wire and the neutral (black) wire are connected reversed.

The tube(s) is(are) on, but no power in the grid

  1. The wires of the grid are touching each other - bend the wires away or adjust the space between the two grids.

  2. There are too many insects on the grid. Leave the unit on - insects will burn out.

  3. There is an electronic malfunction - switch off the unit and contact your dealer.

The grid works, but the tube(s) is (are) dead

  1. Switch of the unit and make sure that the tube is clicked in properly. The tube could have clicked out of the lampholders during transportation.

  2. If the unit has been in use for a long time, the tube starter may be faulty. Change the starter(s) with the same starter(s) taken out.

  3. Replace the tube(s). We recommend that the tube(s) must be replaced at least every two years to keep the unit effective.
