History of Ultrablitz

Ultrablitz has been manufacturing a variety of products since 1982.

1982-1988

Where it all started

Lieb saw the need for unique solutions to night flying insect control and started importing insect electrocutors from Hong Kong.

After realizing that these imported units were just not robust enough for the harsh African weather nor the unstable power supply in rural areas, Lieb started to design and manufacture his own insect electrocutor. These units were made from sheetmetal tops and no sides.

1988-1991

Gaining momentum

As the insect electrocutors are mainly used outside, the sheetmetal did not last long, especially in coastal areas. The decision was made to manufacture the electrocutors from a mixture of polyester and fibre-glass. These were moulded under high pressure in a press and the units also now got some fancy side panels.

1991-1996

Getting Innovative

Unfortunately the material became very expensive and scarce, It also proved to be unsuitable for the harsh South African climate.
Lieb started manufacturing the insect electrocutors from PVC plastic extrusions that was UV treated on the top, and polypropolene side panels.

1997-1999

Let's invest

It was soon apparent that the plastic was still not robust enough for our harsh weather.
Lieb decided to invest into custom made ABS plastic injection molding, which not only improved the ergonomics but also sped up production. This plastic was UV treated and fire resistant.

But again the material was still not suitable and started showing signs of wear and tear sooner than expected.

2000-current

The winning solution

After careful consideration and many sleepless nights, Lieb decided to start manufacturing the units from aluminium.

Custom extrusion dies had to be designed for the top, sides and baseplate. They are unique to all Ultrablitz models and is still the only locally manufactured Aluminium Insect Electrocutors in South Africa.

At first the aluminium was anodized for extra durability but this delayed supply.

In recent years we started powder-coating the frames which has proven to be the ultimate solution for durability.

Customer

Ek moet jul net prys vir `n goeie produk. Ek moes al lankal een gekry het. Hy looi die sewe soorte @#$%^&(&^%$# uit die goggas uit!! My twee worsies dink dis nou elke aand nuwe jaar!!! Hulle duck and dive elke keer as `n gogga geklap word.

Takealot

I have been using the Ultrablitz for a while now on our farm and I can honestly say it works great. We have a lot of mosquitoes and it certainly brought down the amount of mosquitoes entering our home as the UV light attracts most of the flying insects. Can't say anything bad about the product, very well good quality built and it is a local company which should make it easy for repairs and parts.

Takealot

Works great. It just needs to be cleaned often with a brush when a lot of bugs are being zapped sticking to the grid, else the zapping gets less.
